Anyway... we already have the Riot Shield. It performs in a similar fashion.

Necro'ing because I had a similar idea.
Power suit (or Battery, which ever sounds better) that allows energy to replenish at a faster rate at the cost of no health regen. So you'll get your stim back a bit faster but if you've been injured, you'll need a medkit to heal or to drop the suit(/battery).
Thoughts?

Well, that's more original than OP's "it already exists, it's called the Riot Shield" suggestion.
