Its not dead, thats for sure. I've managed to get a few games going, but its sporadic at best. Some new updates might draw more interest though.
If you need any ideas, I'm the one to talk too. I have a friend who is still developing maps for WC3, and while I am no good with map design, he considers me part of the team just because I tend to help him test bugs, as well as the ideas that I bounce off of him.
